Evan Whelchel (evan.whelchel@gmail.com) - D1 Head Coach
669-6625

Evan began playing lacrosse in Massachusetts as a young child because his older brothers both played. After moving up and down the East Coast, his family finally settled in Austin, and Evan played indoor lacrosse in the summers with the club then referred to as the Westlake Wahoos.
He attended St. Mary's Hall High School where he served as team captain for three years, MVP for two years and All-State for his sophomore, junior and senior years. In his senior season, Evan lead St. Mary's Hall to their first Texas State Championship appearance. Upon graduation, he attended Franklin and Marshall in Lancaster, Pa., where he played as a midfielder on the varsity squad.
After graduation, Evan returned to Austin and helped found the Austin Crossfire Lacrosse Club (2001-05) and served as VP and Team Captain while he worked locally for Dell. From 2003 to 2005, Evan was head coach at St. Michael's, and he coached the Central Division All-Star team; he also ran summer camps for Lone Star and St. Mary's Hall. Evan left Austin for a year to be the full-time varsity assistant coach at Virginia Wesleyan, which went 12-3 in the NCAA DIII tournament before he decided to return to Austin.
Evan is the Sales Manager for Blackboard, the market-leading online software solutions company for higher education. Evan is married to Megan, and they have one son, Jackson Henry, who joined them Christmas day 2006. Jackson is the self-proclaimed youngest Westwood Warrior fan ever!
Kenny Pailes (kenny.pailes@gmail.com) - D1 Goalie Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Medical Trainer
844-0037

Voted both "Most Spirited" and "Class Clown" by the Westwood HS student body of 1994, Coach Kenny Pailes believes that everyone who plays Warrior lacrosse should play to win in a positive manner. Winning is the goal, but players must have fun and grow as young men to get there.
He also believes that the goalkeeper is the heart of the defense, and no team wins without a good defense! A goalie must lead the team's defenders to proper positions (yelling through a mouthguard), adjust the defense during a dynamic attack (more yelling - defenders are stubborn), anticipate the shooter's intentions (if he's even aiming), stop that hard rubber ball moving at speeds up to 100 mph (admire the bruise AFTER the game), and begin the team's transition into an effective offense (let's see what the other keeper can do). However, even the best Division I college goalies only save about 60% of the shots they face. A good goalie has to have heart, grit and determination to keep standing between the pipes. You can do your part by cheering on the Westwood goalies: Make sure they remember the saves more than the goals!
After lettering all three years of his high school lacrosse career, Coach Pailes took the lessons he learned as a goalie to an entirely different playing field: public safety. He spent more than a decade as a full-time firefighter, EMT-I, and hazardous materials specialist. He now serves as a homeland security and hazardous materials consultant to fire departments, military units, and private companies across the nation.

Harrison Parr is a graduate of Westwood High School, and played college club lacrosse at Texas Tech University. Harrison concentrates on assisting with the attack and midfield.
Roger Ingram (ringram@strasburger.net) - D1 Defensive Coordinator
Roger Ingram is the D1 Defensive Coordinator. He grew up playing football, golf, baseball and basketball at Palmyra-Macedon Central High School in Palmyra, NY. His family moved to Texas his junior year, allowing him to experience Texas football at Temple High School. Roger returned to Upstate New York for his senior year at “Pal-Mac” before matriculating to Alfred University, in Alfred, NY, to play football. Roger says the best thing that happened to him at Alfred was being cut from the team before his sophomore year. Knowing that idle hands are the devil’s workshop, Roger walked onto the university’s DIII lacrosse team and played defense for 3 years. After graduating with a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering, Roger was lured back to Texas by a hot Texas babe he’d met on one of his visits, later marrying her on the 10th anniversary of their first date. During the 80’s, Roger played on city teams in Austin and San Antonio for five years before leaving on an extended sabbatical in El Paso, Texas. Upon returning from the desert in 1995, he played one last year for Austin and, more recently, coached seven lacrosse teams for Town & Country and the 2007 Cedar Park JV team. In an effort to facilitate growth of the sport, Roger has served on the Friends of Central Texas Lacrosse Board for four years and the T&C Lacrosse Board for two years. Roger enjoys encouraging young men to seek excellence and see the big picture beyond lacrosse. He and his wife, Sharon, have three children: Pierce, Lance and Brooke. Roger works for Strasburger Enterprises, Inc. as its General Counsel (fancy name for legal beagle).
Dominic Ceci (domceci@yahoo.com) - D2 Head Coach
414-690-9568
Dominic Ceci is the Westwood D2 head coach. He graduated from Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, WI, where he played on the 1999 D2 state runner-up football team, and where he was a two-time state track finalist. With no lacrosse team at his school, Dominic spent his springs playing baseball. Dominic went to the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse (which is named for the sport), where he played and was team captain of La Crosse Lacrosse (the school capitalized on that and sold a lot of La Crosse Lacrosse merchandise). Dominic returned to Brookfield, where he was instrumental in creating a high-school lacrosse program, which he coached for three years while running many camps and clinics for the Milwaukee Area Youth Lacrosse Association. Thinking he could escape winter, Dominic recently moved to Austin. As a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine)-certified personal trainer, Dominic has been training athletes of all ages and in all sports since 2001, with a strong emphasis on proper mechanics, speed and agility. He is currently a membership services representative for Pure Austin Fitness.
Frank Llamo (frank.llamo@gmail.com) - D2 Offensive Coordinator/Face-Off Coach
659-9597

Growing up in a small village in the foothills of the Himalayas, Frank's family led many great mountaineering expeditions. Because of his childhood as a junior Sherpa, his body is impervious to extremes of cold and altitude. On one trek up K2, Frank met a man living in a cave who told him about the wonderful sport of Lacrosse. It was then that the seed was planted.
A few years later, Frank's family moved to the States. Taking up residence in Houston, Texas, he was shocked and surprised that nobody played the magical sport of his dreams there. He persisted getting his first stick in 8th grade even though the only teammate he had was one of the walls at the school down the street.
During the summer between his 8th-grade year and High School, his parents moved to Rochester, New York, which Frank found to be a hotbed for lacrosse. He was able to leave the wall behind and finally enjoy the game of lacrosse with people. That spring he played on the freshman lacrosse team at his high school splitting time between midfield and attack.
At the end of his sophomore year Frank got horrible news. His family would be moving back to Houston. Fortunately, Houston had changed-it now had lacrosse.
During high school at St. Thomas in Houston, Frank and his friends started a club team. He played middie and attack, occasionally doing a stint in between the pipes; having harvested coconuts as a child, he was not afraid of being hit by the ball.
As a student at Texas A&M, Frank joined the lacrosse team. At the time, A&M had the best program in the state. Loving to face off, Frank played middie more frequently. Frank got good at facing off (68-win percentage) and with bad knees brought on by my rough childhood, he was a natural candidate for the position.
After graduation, Frank started a club team in Houston where he played two seasons before his work brought him to Austin. At the time, Austin only had one men's lacrosse club team, so Frank helped to start another. He played about a year until his body said "no more."
Frank is enjoying his first coaching job, helping others to learn and enjoy the sport that he has loved since his youth.

699-0226

Mike started his lacrosse career at Westwood in 1996 as a midfielder. The following season he switched to goalie for the next year and a half. He was on the 2005 conference championship team at Texas Tech University, where he played college lacrosse for four years.
Mike first coached in 1997 for a youth lacrosse clinic and really enjoyed it. He continued coaching here and there for more clinics until graduating from Westwood in 2000. In 2001 and 2002 he coached with Jim Mitchell until moving on to college. He worked primarily as a goalie and defensive coach. After moving back to the Austin area in 2005, he coached 8th-grade teams at Town and Country in 2006 and 2007. He joined the current Westwood staff in 2006 as a defensive assistant. In 2007, he moved to JV as the head coach and is looking forward to another successful year with Westwood Lacrosse.
Jon Greenwood (jonandg@hotmail.com) - JV Assistant Coach
771-3570

Jon Greenwood began playing lacrosse in 1990 for Cy-Fair High School in Houston, TX, during the school's first-ever lacrosse program. During his freshman and sophomore years, Jon played defense and was a starter his sophomore year. After their goalie graduated at the end of Jon's sophomore year, the coach asked for volunteers for the position so Jon stepped up to fill the role. He started every game and was captain his junior and senior years. Jon also began racing mountain bikes during high school, traveling around Texas to race.
Jon's love of the game extended to college where he played goalie at Stephen F. Austin and the University of Texas at Austin. Jon graduated from UT in 1999 and moved to Houston with his fiancé, Giselle, who's also a UT alum. There, he began coaching the JV lacrosse team of his old alma mater, Cy-Fair. Jon and Giselle got married in the summer of 2000 and soon thereafter, moved to New York City.
In 2003, Jon and Giselle decided to settle down and plant their roots in Austin. Jon was an assistant coach for a Town and Country team, and volunteered last year to help out with the JV team at Westwood. Jon, Giselle and their dog, Bailey, just bought their first home in Cedar Park where they all look forward to another great year with the Westwood Lacrosse Team.
