NO PASS / NO PLAY POLICY
Note: Westwood Lacrosse policy basically mirrors RRISD policy.
What we do on the field is important, but not nearly as important as what happens in the classroom.
The Westwood Lacrosse No Pass No Play Policy is the same as UIL or RRISD policy. A roster of players is presented to our school sponsor, who then checks the list at each six week grading period.
If a player receives a non-passing grade, defined as a grade below 70, then the player will become ineligible to participate in games. However, he may still attend practice. The period of ineligibility starts seven days after the report is issued. The player will then be ineligible for a period of three weeks. If the next three week Progress Report shows that the grade has been raised to a level of 70 or higher, the student will regain eligibility seven days after the passing grade is reported.
If a player receives a grade lower than 70 but higher than 59 in an AP, IB, "Honors", or high school/college concurrent enrollment course (per UIL wording), the player may petition the school principal to continue to participate in practices and games.
This is based on our experience with Westwood High School and the written UIL policy. See http://www.uil.utexas.edu/academics/coordinator_tips/eligibility_basics.html .
Please consult the RRISD student handbook for further details. It can be found at http://www.roundrockisd.org/docs/2007-08_high_school_handbook.pdf, page 11. A calendar of eligibility dates can be found on page 90 of the student handbook appendix at https://www.roundrockisd.org/docs/part_iii_high_school_handbook_08-09.pdf .
