SIGNED WAIVERS NEEDED
11/30/20087:23:37 PM Link | | Add comment
There are two signed waivers that are required before playing in the UT Longhorm Classic Tournament this weekend, December 6-7. One is a waiver from UT and the other form is from US Lacrosse. CLICK HERE to be directed to UT to print off the form for the tournament. CLICK HERE to be directed to the US Lacrosse site. Why is this form required? US Lacrosse requires their membership form to be on file.
If you have trouble printing out the forms, Teri Holmstrom will have forms available at the beginning of practice each day this week. She will be at Canyon Vista from 4:50 - 5:15.
When you have completed the forms, please put them in an envelope and either give to Teri before practice or mail to our po box. Please do NOT give the forms to the coaches.
We must have both forms before December 5.
Questions? Please email Teri Holmstrom at mholmstrom@austin.rr.com.

We are looking for parent volunteers to fill the position of Team Coordinator for each of our 3 teams. We will need one Team Coordinator for each team (D1-D2-JV). Each Team Coordinator would be responsible for representing their assigned team at monthly Board Meetings. Each coordinator would also be responsible for helping our board and other volunteers communicate and follow-up with parents on your assigned team. The Team Coordinator role is one of the most important volunteer roles for our club. If you would like additional information or if you would like to nominate a parent or volunteer yourself to be considered for one of our 3 Team Coordinator roles, please email Mike Morenz at mmorenz@austin.rr.com

Our Westwood Lacrosse Board sent a meeting invitation ealier today to all parents who have volunteered to be a coordinator for our club. If you volunteered to be one of our coordinators, we hope you will be able to attend this brief meeting. SAT and ACT Dates
11/2/200811:10:16 AM Link | | Add comment
This message is especially pertinent to parents of juniors, but there are some more widely applicable items here. If you son will be taking the SAT or ACT later this year, we have listed the dates below along with a cross reference to our current lacrosse schedule.
Remaining SAT testing dates this year are 12/6, 1/24, 3/14, 5/2, and 6/6. There are possible conflicts with some of these dates vs. lacrosse. 12/6 is Longhorn Shootout. 3/14 is the first Saturday of spring break. (We do not plan to schedule any lacrosse events that day.) 5/2 is the first weekend of district playoffs.
Remaining ACT testing dates are 12/13, 2/7, 4/4, and 6/13. On 2/7 there is a scheduled D1/JV game vs. Stony Point. 4/4 is a D1/JV game vs. Westlake (evening game). 6/13 is the weekend of the University of Denver team camp in Denver. This is relevant to those who play on summer travel teams (optional).
Update from Kent Jones on Spring Break
11/2/200811:01:58 AM Link | | Add comment
During registration, we asked if families would be interested in participating in a spring break lacrosse trip. We investigated playing in southern California, but found that we would not be allowed to play against the state-sanctioned California teams. We also investigated other options including traveling to Orlando to play at the Disney Sports Complex. This initially seemed feasible. Unfortunately, with the current state of the economy, additional families have declined interest. Currently the coaches feel that we would not be able to field a representative, competitive team. As such, we have suspended further planning for spring break.
