Team Parents Announcement

We are pleased to announce we now have volunteers to be our Team Parent Coordinators for all three teams. Our Team Parent Coordinators will normally be your initial contact for any questions,concerns or suggestions you have regarding the team. They will also be working with our Game Day/Field Prep Volunteer Coordinators, Game Day Administrators, Travel Coordinator and coaches to insure information is communicated to you in a timely manner. We have listed the names of our Team Parent Coordinators for each team. Please do not hesitate to contact them with any questions or suggestions.

Team and individual pictures will be taken by John Stafford Photography this Saturday, Jan 31st during regular practice. Please arrive on time. All teams will be wearing their WHITE HOME GAME JERSEY. If you wear your uniform please bring practice clothes to change into. There will be practice after pictures.

Waivers are required for the D1 Dallas Jesuit Tournament and the D2 -JV Aggieland Tournament. The waivers were sent as part of the weekly email update on 1/25. If you have problems printing the waivers, email Teri Holmstrom at mholmstrom@austin.rr.com .
D1 Trip to Dallas - Player Room Payments

D1 Parents who have completed the player participation survey for the upcoming Dallas trip and requested to be billed $90 for their son's hotel room, please select the CLICK HERE button below to submit your payment. Deadline for player room payment is Feburary 7th. If you reserved a spot in one of our player rooms for your son and you are not paying for your son's room via Paypal, please mail your $90 payment to our club's PO Box. Parent or family rooms must be reserved directly with the hotel. See Tournament announcement in BLOG below dated 1-18-2009 for complete details or to access and complete the player registration for the Dallas Trip . CLICK HERE to pay your son's $90 fee via credit card if you requested him to be assigned to one of our player rooms in Dallas. If you do not have a PAYPAL account, you can still pay via credit card.

JV Parents - We Need Volunteers

We need at least two parent volunteers for the position of Game Day Administrator for the JV team for the upcoming season. The Game Day Administrator plays an important role for each of our teams. We must find at least 2 Game Day Administrator volunteers for the JV team to properly prepare for each game. Each Game Day Admin would be assigned 3-4 home games and 4-5 away games during the upcoming season. This position does fullfill the volunteer requirements for Game Day support. We have created a recap of the responsibilities of the Game Day Administrator that is available upon request. If you are interesed in additional information about the position or would like to become one of our Game Day Admins for our JV team, please contact Kent Jones at kjones4@austin.rr.com or Mike Morenz at mmorenz@austin.rr.com
Volunteer Recognition and Reminder

We would like to thank the following volunteers for their help earlier this year with our Car Wash Event. Janet Simpkins, Stan Miles, Sarah Swords, Andi Tasset, Jim Stanley, Kim Clower plus Event Coordinators - Theresa Knavel and Lynn Morenz.. Once again, this event has helped contribute to our budget and despite the normal "moans and groans" from a few players, the smiles on the kids faces would indicate everyone had fun. Thanks again to all the volunteers for this event.
As a reminder, each family must volunteer for 2 Social-Fundraising events and 5 Game Day or Field Prep days to fullfill their volunteer obligations. Event coordinators receive double credit because of their additional time committment. Please select the Volunteer tab above, navigate to the Event Volunteer page, and select the link at the bottom of the page to review our current recap of all Event volunteers for this year. If you have volunteered for an event and your name is not listed on the Event Volunteer log, please email the appropriate Coordinator to have your name added to the volunteer recap for that event. Game day and field prep volunteers will be listed on a seperate page.

Receiving Team Text Messages?

Now that teams have been selected, our coaches are planning on sending out team specific text messages. If you have not signed up to receive text messages, please select the "Text Message Opt-In" option at the top of our Home Page. You'll need to have your cell phone handy as a verification code will be send via text to your phone.

DISTRIBUTION OF GAME DAY UNIFORMS

Beginning Monday the 19th, we will begin distributing the team uniforms. In order for your player to receive his uniform, you must have paid the $200.00 required uniform deposit. This deposit will be held until the end of the season when the uniform is returned. Please have your player bring the deposit check to practice in an envelope on Monday and give to either Teri Holmstrom or Andi Tasset. If you have any questions as to if you've submitted the uniform deposit, please contact Linda Baddour at lbaddour@austin.rr.com.
ONLY New players will be given a Orange Game day shooting shirt to be worn over the jersey on game days.
Holiday Party Thank You's

A big round of applause goes to Cindy Pierce, Tandy Lodge and their elves, Patty, Janet, Theresa, Barbara, Debbie, Susan, Sylvia, Linda and Teri, who all helped with the Holiday Party. The food choices by PF Changs were delicious. A big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who contributed to the auction baskets and baked goods. Our auctioneer, Bruno Ierullo, once again did a fabulous job in promoting the items. The auction brought in over $1600.00 more than doubling last years' fundraiser.
2009 Lacrosse Program Information

Placing an ad in the 2009 lacrosse program is a great way to support your son and the Westwood lacrosse team. The process is easy. Simply take the form out of Pocket # 2 of the orange folder you received at the beginning of the season, complete it, and mail it along with your payment to the address on the form. If you'd like to include a picture, digital photos can be emailed to Joan at joan@joansspeak.com .
If you enjoy graphic design, you can create your own camera-ready ad and send it to Joan at the above email address. Still, mail the form and paperwork to the Club. If you would prefer us to put the ad together for you, fill out the form, email the picture or mail the hard-copy picture with the form if you are unable to scan. It's that simple.
This is also a great way to advertise your small business. The process is the same and the business advantage is time-tested.
Don't delay -- the deadline is THIS SATURDAY, January 17!!!!

No Cleats at Town & Country

Town & Country does NOT allow cleats on the practice fields. Players should wear turf shoes (20 or more small cleats). Players will not be allowed to play with standard cleats at Town & Country.
2009 West-wood N' Irons Golf Tournament

West-wood N' Irons Golf Tournament
Date and time of this fun-filled event is Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Balcones Golf Club, tee time is 12:30 p.m. Start thinking about your foursome!!
Format for the tournament is "Best Ball/Four-man Scramble". All participating golfer's will receive a free goodie and will be treated to a hamburger buffet and soft drink at the end of the day. As is the case with all tournaments, prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers, longest drive and closest to the pin. Door prizes will also be awarded.
Prior to the tournament, there will be a "Putting Contest" for all interested golfers! Additional details will be posted at a later date.
Golfer fees are the same as last year...$100 per adult and $75 per student.
A great way to support the Club and have a fun day with your son!

January Practice Announcement

Happy New Year . We hope your family had a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Please view our updated pre-season practice schedule posted under the calendar section of our website. Practices during January will be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday,and Saturday except during Finals week. Since we have limited access this year to the lighted practice fields at Town and Country, we have decided to set up a practice rotation schedule for Thursday nights. Each Thursday night, one team (D1-D2-JV) will be assigned to practice from 5pm to 6:15 pm at Canyon Vista, while the other 2 teams will practice at Town and Country. Although MOST players will initially be assigned to Thursday night practice fields based on their team assignment for the UT Tournament, some adjustments to the teams for UT will be made at the start of this week. Players will be notified during practice early this week which team they should practice with this coming Thursday. Once again, please remember the team assignments created for the UT tournament and the Thursday night practices in early January are still subject to change. Final team assignments will be announced near the end of January. Please visit the "pre-season" calendar for the Thursday night rotation schedule and practice times.
