There will be a mandatory scrimmage from 6-8 at the Warrior Bowl and all players are expected to attend!  Players should be at the Warrior Bowl by 5:30 with white home uniforms and practice jerseys.

Please welcome Patrick Estes, our new JV Assistant Coach.  Patrick grew up in Crofton, Maryland and played high school lacrosse for Arundel High in Anne Arundel County.  He was a three year varsity player, and a Washington Post and Capital All-County player.  Patrick started for Essex (Baltimore, MD) on the 2009 team which reached the Final Four.   Welcome to Westwood Lacrosse, Patrick!

Practice updates:

Today:  JV at CVMS track, 4:45-6:45pm, bring flats if possible.  Varsity at Coach Ingram's, 5:00-6:30pm, bring gym clothes and towel.

Saturday:  JV at Spicewood Springs Library, 10:00am-12:00pm in meeting room.  Varsity at CVMS track, bring gear and flats.

JV Tune-up Tournament - January 30, 2010

Our tournament is on!!  However, we will now be playing at Westlake HS, as the fields at WCRP have been closed due to the wet weather.
Players are to be at the fields by 8:00am, and should plan to be there until 5:00pm to help with clean-up and whatever else needs to be done after the tournament.  Players who are academically-ineligible to play are still expected to be at the tournament to assist the coaching staff, and to help afterwards.  Uniform will be practice jersey and black/white WW lacrosse shorts.  Please dress warmly and appropriately for the weather tomorrow (black leggings, sweats, hats, face masks, etc.), as it is supposed to be in the low 30's in the morning.  Brrrrrrrrr!
We will be playing on the turf practice fields that we played on for the Westlake Round Robin.   Westbank Drive loops around to the fields, but you will have to park in the lot across from the fields, on the other side of Westbank Drive.  No parking will be allowed next to the fields, or you will be fined or towed.   
Note:  No food is allowed on the fields.   No drinks except water are allowed onto the fields.  We cannot set up our Hospitality Tent, but we will have coolers with drinks, fruit and energy/granola bars available for the players.

Shooting Shirts and Practice Shorts

Shooting shirts and practice shorts will be distributed to players after practice Tuesday, January 19.  Cindy Smith will distribute to JV players and Teri Holmstrom will distribute to Varsity players.  Cindy will be in a hunter green Chrysler Town & Country van and Teri will be in a black Lexus suv.  If your son is not going to be at Tuesday's practice, please contact Cindy at wordsmithcgs@sbcglobal.net or Teri at mholmstrom@austin.rr.com to make arrangements to get these items.

JV: Fiesta Tournament Schedule for 4/25

The Fiesta Tournament in San Antonio has been rescheduled for this Saturday, 4/25. The Fiesta Tournament is not a sanctioned event and occurs after the regular season has completed. This means that all players are eligible to play.

At present, the game schedule has a few changes:

• 9:00 Westwood (home) vs. Alamo Heights
• 11:00 Westwood vs. Central Catholic (home)
• 1:00 Westwood (home) vs. Texas Military Institute

Be sure to bring both jerseys as we will be both home and visitors for games.

All players should report to the fields at St. Mary's Hall at 8:15. Everyone must arrange for their own transportation to and from the event. If you need help with travel arrangements, please contact Betsy Fiedler or Elizabeth Vetter. The tournament provides lunch. We will have a tent set-up with granola bars and drinks.

St. Mary's Hall is located at 9401 Starcrest in San Antonio. Click here for a map to St. Mary's Hall. Due to construction on 410, the Starcrest exit is closed. Instead, get off earlier at the Perrin Beitel exit and go through the light until you get to the second light at Starcrest. Turn right on Starcrest. Starcrest dead ends into St. Mary's Hall.

2009 - 2010 Physicals

RRISD requires that a valid Athletic Physical be on fie each year for all athletes participating in sports.  This year, RRISD will be offering Physicals for the 2009 - 2010 school year on May 16, 2009 at McNeil High School.  Physicals for Westwood High School students will be from11:45 - 1:00 p.m.  The cost of the Physical is $ 20.00.  All proceeds will go back to the districts athletic triaining programs.  There will be an optional heart scan available at an additional fee.  Additional information will be communicated as it becomes available.

JV St. Andrews game rescheduled to 3/30

The Westwood JV lacrosse game with St. Andrews that was originally scheduled for April was changed to March 30th at 7:00 pm at St. Andrews High School. There will be a bus to take the players to St. Andrews leaving from Westwood at 5:00 pm. Players will need to arrange for a ride home from the game.

St. Andrews High School is at 5901 Southwest Parkway.

Stolen Lax Equipment

Michael McElreath had his car stolen today from the Westwood area.  In it were his WW equipment bag, as well as two other players' equipment bags.  The police told Janet McElreath that the car may be recovered, but anything inside of it is probably gone for good.

Once again, if you would like to caravan out to Aggieland please meet at Taco Cabana no later than 7:15 Ssaturday morning.
 
Unaccompanied players, please bring money for the following:
Breakfast tacos (Saturday morning at Taco Cabana - optional);
Dinner after the games;
Money for the ride home in case they stop for food.

The only things that are being provided in the hospitality tent are the food, snacks and drinks.The boys are welcome to grab some items after Saturday's game to take back to the hotel.  The hospitality tent will have
protein bars, granola bars, fruit, deli meat/cheese and peanut butter for sandwiches, water, and Gatorade's during the day on Saturday and Sunday.

JV Team Aggieland Update

We will meet at the Taco Cabana on 183 between Anderson Mill and Spicewood Springs in the Galleria Oaks Shopping Center at 7:15 am, and will depart promptly at 7:30  for those of you who want to caravan out to Aggieland. Taco Cabana has plenty of  parking, you can grab coffee and a breakfast taco for the road if you would like.  It takes about two hours to get to  Texas A&M.  We will go directly to the field.  We will check into the hotel later in the day. We will email maps of the field locations later in the week.

Parents who have completed the player participation survey for the Aggieland Tournament and requested to be billed $40 for their son's hotel room, please select the CLICK HERE button below to submit your payment.  Deadline for player room payment is Feburary 7th.  It you reserved a spot in one of our player rooms for your son and you are not paying for your son's room via Paypal, please mail your $40 payment to our club's PO Box.   Parent or family rooms must be reserved directly with the hotel.  See Tournament announcement in BLOG below dated 1-18-2009 for complete details or to access and complete the player registration for the Aggieland Tournament.  CLICK HERE to pay your son's $40 fee via credit card if you requested him to be assigned to one of our player rooms at Aggieland.  If you do not have a PAYPAL account, you can still pay via credit card.
