We will be taking team and individual player photos on Tuesday, December 15th in the gymnasium at Westwood, starting at 4:15pm. The preferred dress for the pictures is a solid, light-colored shirt, dark slacks (no jeans) and a tie. We are representing our club and school with these photos, but please, do not purchase new items for them.

We are pleased to announce Jamie Booth as our program's new Offensive Coordinator. Coach Booth has been coaching youth and high school lacrosse for ten years. He most recently held the position of Head Coach at Stony Point, where he took his team to the state championships last season. More important than his winning record though, he helped redefine Stony Point's reputation and attitude, both on and off of the field. In discussions with him over the past few weeks, Coach Pailes feels that he will fit in perfectly with our philosophy of positive, character-based coaching, while also bringing a fresh eye to the most potent offense in the district. Welcome Coach Booth!

The Board of the Westwood High School Boys Lacrosse Parents Club proudly announces the appointment of Kenny Pailes as the new varsity head coach, effective immediately.Coach Pailes is excited and honored to lead a team he has been a part of the last three years as D1 Defensive Coach, as well as Goalie Coach. If you chose not to order photos of your player but would still like to get a player button, you can. John took an individual photo of every player who attended the photo shoot. The buttons are $8.00 each. The deadline is Wed. Feb 11th. If you ordered a package, you will receive a photo of the entire team (all 3 teams) unless you notify me by Feb 11th at atasset@sbcglobal.net Please indicate which team photo (D1, D2, or JV) you want instead.
WARRIOR JACKET AND PANTS

ONE TIME ORDERING THIS SEASON OF WARRIOR JACKET & PANTS
Coach Evan and the other coaches are purchasing the Warrior Shield jacket and pants. There has been some interest amongst some players to also purchase this warm up suit. We will place the order this Friday, February 6. It will be embroidered with the Westwood "W". It will be all black with white piping, and the orange "W" on the upper left corner chest. There will be no embroidery on the pants.
The Warrior Shield has a lining. The cost is:
Jacket $ 97.50
Pants $ 53.50
The other style available is the Warrior Storm. This style is a little less expensive and is not as warm. However, it has the same look.
The Warrior Storm is NOT lined. The cost is:
Jacket $ 75.00
Pants $ 52.50
I will be collecting money ONLY on Friday Feb 6th. Please contact me to make other arrangements.

Placing an ad in the 2009 lacrosse program is a great way to support your son and the Westwood lacrosse team. The process is easy. Simply take the form out of Pocket # 2 of the orange folder you received at the beginning of the season, complete it, and mail it along with your payment to the address on the form. If you'd like to include a picture, digital photos can be emailed to Joan at joan@joansspeak.com .
If you enjoy graphic design, you can create your own camera-ready ad and send it to Joan at the above email address. Still, mail the form and paperwork to the Club. If you would prefer us to put the ad together for you, fill out the form, email the picture or mail the hard-copy picture with the form if you are unable to scan. It's that simple.
This is also a great way to advertise your small business. The process is the same and the business advantage is time-tested.
Don't delay -- the deadline is THIS SATURDAY, January 17!!!!

No Cleats at Town & Country

Town & Country does NOT allow cleats on the practice fields. Players should wear turf shoes (20 or more small cleats). Players will not be allowed to play with standard cleats at Town & Country.
2009 West-wood N' Irons Golf Tournament

West-wood N' Irons Golf Tournament
Date and time of this fun-filled event is Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Balcones Golf Club, tee time is 12:30 p.m. Start thinking about your foursome!!
Format for the tournament is "Best Ball/Four-man Scramble". All participating golfer's will receive a free goodie and will be treated to a hamburger buffet and soft drink at the end of the day. As is the case with all tournaments, prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers, longest drive and closest to the pin. Door prizes will also be awarded.
Prior to the tournament, there will be a "Putting Contest" for all interested golfers! Additional details will be posted at a later date.
Golfer fees are the same as last year...$100 per adult and $75 per student.
A great way to support the Club and have a fun day with your son!

T&C has notified us that we can not use the fields tonight due to rain. All teams will practice at 5pm today at CVMS, the boys need to bring running shoes along with their equipment.

If you did not receive your merchandise at the Longhorn Shootout or are waiting for the gear bag, I have them at my house. Please contact Andi Tasset @ atasset@sbcglobal.net to make arrangements. Gloves will not arrive until late January. When they arrive I will pass them out at practices.

Thanks to all the parents who made the hospitality tent a success. The hospitality tent is completely funded by the generous donations of parents. It allows all coaches, players and their parents a place to gather between games and grab a drink or snack. After teams are announced in January, I will be needing a Hospitality Coordinator for each team. If you are interested in this position, please contact Andi Tasset @ atasset@sbcglobal.net to get further information. Thank you again for donating coolers, tents, snacks, drinks and ice.

LONGHORN HOSPITALITY TENT

Having cold drinks, snacks and a place to congregate between games is appreciated by the players. I've put together a list of items we need for our tent. If it sounds like a lot, remember we have 70 boys participating in the tournament. Please contact me #947-9039 or atasset@sbcglobal.net if you would like to help out. The hospitality tent benefits all players, coaches and parents.
Water.....5-7 cases of small bottles (1 case is approx 35 bottles)
Gatorades ........10-12 packs (Smallest size, various flavors)
Power bars/granola bars...... 6-10 boxes
Beef jerky/Slim Jims........6 boxes
Cookies .......6 (1 doz each)
Variety of snack size chips ...........5 (comes in bags or boxes
I will need help putting up 3 tents and getting the snacks outs & drinks iced as well as taking down. Come join us.
SIGNED WAIVERS NEEDED

There are two signed waivers that are required before playing in the UT Longhorm Classic Tournament this weekend, December 6-7. One is a waiver from UT and the other form is from US Lacrosse. CLICK HERE to be directed to UT to print off the form for the tournament. CLICK HERE to be directed to the US Lacrosse site. Why is this form required? US Lacrosse requires their membership form to be on file.
If you have trouble printing out the forms, Teri Holmstrom will have forms available at the beginning of practice each day this week. She will be at Canyon Vista from 4:50 - 5:15.
When you have completed the forms, please put them in an envelope and either give to Teri before practice or mail to our po box. Please do NOT give the forms to the coaches.
We must have both forms before December 5.

In preparation for the UT Longhorn Shootout, practice will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, December 1, 2, 4 and 5 from 5:00 - 6:15. We will not have practice on Wednesday, December 3, as previously scheduled.

You'd better not pout, you'd better not cry, I'm telling you why...............WWLAX Holiday Party is coming to town. Save the date: Friday, December 12th @ 6:00 in the WWHS Dining Rooms. The event is being catered by PF Chang's and will begin serving @ 6:30. Tickets will be available for purchase on Monday, November 24th and the cost will be $14.00 a plate. If you signed up to help with this event, Cindy Pierce or Tandy Lodge will be contacting you.
HOMECOMING PARADE

Homecoming Parade, Thursday Oct. 9th @ 6pm. Do you want to help assemble the float? Meet in the parking lot afterschool. Snacks and drinks provided. Players who are participating need to be in the WWHS parking lot by 5:30. Wear silky shorts, sleeveless t-shirt, tube socks, mouthguard and gloves. Look for the BOXING RING.
